Border collies are used to herd or move goats from one place to another.  They have a natural instinct to keep the goats together.  When herding goats, if one goat strays from the herd and gets away others are encouraged to follow.  Border collies are very fast and quickly move to bring the strays back to the herd.  With a little training and patience a good border collie can make herding a lot easier.
